When Napoleon III's favorite perfumer proposes his violet, the result is inevitably imperial. The first few minutes are crystal-clear on the violet note, obvious and dashing. Then it displays a duality between the fruity innocence of blackcurrant, and the mystery of an accord of wood and humus. The execution is superbly mastered.
